Nihon Falcom Japan Game Streaming Guidelines Released

Nihon Falcom has released new streaming guidelines that apply to user-uploaded videos and streams based on its games. The company generally only allows non-profit uploads to websites, blogs, and social media. However, it makes an exception for monetization done through official partner features on video sites, such as YouTube and Twitch.

In the guidelines, Nihon Falcom asks users to refrain from posting gameplay videos of its titles before official release dates. However, the company can make exceptions when it directly asks another person or company to publish its content in advance.

In addition to the above, Falcom is also asking users to place spoiler warnings on videos containing significant story events. It prohibits downloads of game content found through illegal methods, such as mining and mods.

As user downloads and streams of games have become more widespread, more and more Japanese companies have decided to put in place official guidelines to regulate videos according to their games in the country. Bandai Namco, Koei Tecmo, Sega, and Capcom are among the companies that have comprehensive release guidelines in place for several game titles.

The latest title that Nihon Falcom has released so far is The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki, available for PlayStation 4 in Japan. The company will publish The Legend of Nayuta: Unlimited Paths – Ad Astra for Nintendo Switch on May 26, 2022, and The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II – Crimson SiN for PlayStation 4 and 5 in fall 2022.
